Debra Titone
Debra Titone’s program of research focuses on how the human brain enables us to comprehend and produce language that is ambiguous, contains figurative elements (idioms, metaphors, conceptual combination), or that relies upon the use of extended semantic and pragmatic contexts. She studies these areas of language in neurologically intact people to elucidate how language comprehension and production normally occur, and then extend these paradigms to special populations, in particular individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. In addition, she studies within- and cross-language ambiguity and it’s relation to bilingual experience and executive functions.
